Very large amount of money is being spent by innumerable software companies and ITES players, the ones employing very large number of white collar workers concentrated in mammoth offices and ever expanding capacities, in offering transportation services between the workplaces and residences spread all across the city. The complexities and obviously, the cost for such operations multiply proportionally to the large number of small group shifts, 24-hour operations, high turnover and new recruitment of personnel, ad-hocism resulting out of last minute schedule alterations and taking care of absenteeism backups etc. The problem of fleet management can be divided into three basic areas of technology infusion and application of GPS and GIS technologies along with a suitable wireless communication media like GSM is attempted to bring in substantial cost savings, productivity improvement, employee satisfaction and better vendor management coupled with flexibility and effectiveness of operation.
TransXS Corporate Personnel Movement System (Fig-1) essentially takes care of the requirement of large corporate customers where extremely large number of employees are picked and dropped between their workplaces and place of residence. What makes this a complex task is the fact that the employees come at various times, go at various times of the day and they may be physically distributed over the large city area. The high cost of such activity mean that even modest amount of efficiency improvement can bring in substantial benefits for the customer, reducing his transport bills, improving employee satisfaction, reducing unforeseen absenteeism and production loss, reducing administrative overheads considerably etc. The same system with minor improvisations also is deployed for Luxury Taxi fleet management or any dedicated fleet logistics for personnel-movement.
